A New Year/ A New Decade
Wow! I can't believe 2010 is here. It seems like yesterday that the year 2000 was upon us, with all the fear and excitement of the unknown. Ten years has gone so fast. So many major things have happened in my life in that time. Precious things that I am so grateful for and have changed me for the better! And now we look ahead to a New Year and a New Decade. JESUS, what is it that you have for us? What an exciting thought and prayer to have. I am so glad that our hope is found in Him.
Mario and I have been doing a study together on Proverbs. Our hearts desire for us and for our children is to know Him more, to have the wisdom and knowledge that the Proverbs talks about, to embrace and live it out in our lives. So often we find ourselves trying to get through life loving God yes, but leaning on our own understanding. Handling what life brings, our way. But I know that God's way is so much better and rich.
Proverbs 4:7-9 says, "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Esteem her, and she will honor you. She will set a garland to grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor."
Proverbs wisdom is found only in God. We are learning in our study that God gives many things with an open hand. He lets the sun rise on the just and the unjust and gives rain to all. He gives life to all even for those who do not acknowledge Him. He gives wonderful gifts to all even to those who will never say thank you. And yet when it comes to knowing Him, having that knowledge and wisdom, He holds that with a closed hand. We have to go to Him and get it. That is the only way!
Proverbs 4:5 says, "Get wisdom, get understanding..."
I'm thankful God is relational and desires us to come to Him. And that when we do, He is so willing to give.
