Awestruck!

So yesterday, our family took a drive up to the mountains to enjoy the fall beauty. It is truly amazing up there! And although I’ve been up there many times, I am still awestruck with the majestic Rocky Mountains and beautiful landscape (especially with all the bright color up there right now). I guess what amazes me even more is that God would make all of this for our enjoyment. That He had us in mind while He was creating all of it, is humbling. That is really something to think about. And it is not just the mountains! It is the ocean, lakes, sunsets, the star-filled sky, rainbows, flowers, birds and the endless list goes on and on. Wow! I am so grateful for all of this.

I know that we can get very busy with everyday life and forget all of this or not take the time to really look around and enjoy our surroundings. You know, the other day I was driving in the car with worship music playing and Londyn asked me, “Mom, when the song says ‘God you amaze me’, what does that mean?” Through her question I was able to explain how awesome God is. That He makes the sun rise every morning, He provides all that we need, He gives us breath and life, He loves us like know one else and He has made all that is good. It was a real privilege to be able to share those things with her. But the best part was her reaction. She got it. She sat there in her seat and said, “Wow! That is so cool!”

Yesterday, as we were hiking, the wind started blowing the quakies and hundreds of those bright yellow leaves began to rain down all around us. I watched my kids faces just light up and they started squealing in excitement. I was thinking no wonder God says we need to be like little children. They get it. We can learn so much from them.

All this to say, I need to take time to stop what I am doing (even if it just for a few moments) and really enjoy what God has made. To be amazed of His beautiful creation, awestruck because when that happens it makes me stand more and more in awe of Him. I encourage you to do the same. Become like a little child. Enjoy!
