Amazing Grace How Sweet the Sound!

Today I’ve been really thinking about how often I seem to mess up in life. I have been a Christian for most of my life and my desire is to really bring honor to the LORD because I love Him and He has done so much for me. I find that although this is the case, I recognize more and more how much I mess up and how truly awful I can be. Lately, I’ve seen this happen quite a bit. It is in those moments though that God reminds me of His amazing grace.

Grace is the free, unmerited favor and love of God! It isn’t something we earn or can even come close to earning. It is a gift! I’m glad that in all the mess-ups I do, one thing I have learned it that God’s grace is sufficient for me. I also love how God can use a mess to make something really good.

I’m sure most of you have heard the song “Amazing Grace”. It is a beautiful song written by a man who was far from God. His name was John Newton. One night while sailing at sea, a terrible storm battled his ship and he was terrified. It was then that John cried out to God asking Him to save him. It was that night that he met God and God gave him His amazing grace (and the words to one of the most popular hymns of all time).

As I was reading through the lyrics of the song and singing them, I realized how precious the chorus of that song is to my heart. But it doesn’t stop there, the second and third verses to that song are about a life journey with God and how He continues to pour out the grace we need through out our lifetime. I am just as grateful for this. I need God’s grace daily. I couldn’t live with out it!

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9
